Wendy Babcox is a British interdisciplinary artist. She is currently an Assistant Professor in Photography and related media at the University of South Florida in Tampa. Babcox received her BFA from the University of Colorado, Boulder and her MFA from the University of Florida where she received a Presidential Fellowship.

Wendy¹s work looks largely with the visual politics of women¹s laughter and female transgression. Her photography, video and performance often engages with notions of the carnivalesque, vaudeville style performance, surveillance, masquerade and the role of the tourist in contemporary culture. Her work often foregrounds the subversive power of women¹s mischief and misbehavior in the form of photographs, large scale video projections and wrestling performances.

Wendy¹s work in photography, video and performance has been exhibited nationally and internationally. In 2006 she completed her first public artwork for the Lights on Tampa public art program that opened in January 2006.
